G600 Program Takes Wing
The Gulfstream G600 is moving quickly along the path toward type certification in 2018.
Since April, four G600 wings have been joined to fuselages. Three are designated as flight test aircraft, and the fourth will be utilized for static testing. A fifth wing join is scheduled for later this year. That aircraft will join the three others in Flight Test.
Mating wing to fuselage is the largest and most complex join in the manufacturing process and marks the first moment a design takes physical form as a full-scale aircraft, the realization of years of design and computer-model testing. As a major production milestone, the wing join also symbolizes the maturity of a new aircraft build.
